I've started hiking this year, as an alternative to the joint-pounding activity of running, at least by itself.  

 The Appalachian Trail

 Spring blooms.

 A stream murmuring its secrets as it flows down the hill.

 There's a universe of life around us that we can never see.

This year's Cherry Blossoms in Washington DC were spectacular.

 Another great hiking place, Great Falls Park on the Potomac River.

 A contemplative evening on the Manassas Battlefield, Virginia.

 Just north of Great Falls is Riverbend Park.  

The Potomac Heritage Trail connects both along this historic river.

This carousel was in one of So Cal's outdoor malls.

Sunset at Laguna Beach

It looks like the desert, but it's part of Disneyland's newest attraction, "Cars Land."

The detail work on the landscape is just awesome.  It looks like the real thing.

If you look carefully, you'll see the piece of bread (top middle) that we tossed into the air.

As soon as we started doing that, the gulls came from everywhere.
